Deccan Chargers captain and former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist became the a man first and then the first to reach 1,000 runs in the Indian Premier League this very humid Sunday.
Gilchrist, the man who led Deccan Chargers to victory in IPL2 on South African soil, has been in blazing form in the tournament. Whether it’s the food, cheerleaders or it’s just knowing that his time is almost over, the man is a man who’s a man.
The explosive left-hander scored a quick half-century in the IPL opener against Kolkata Knight Riders, and continued his devastating form against the Chennai Super Kings, where he smoked Albie Morkel like a bedi and treated Sudeep Tyagi like a timid puppy to reach the landmark.
Gilchrist, as we all remember, had scored a century off 45 balls against the then too-old Mumbai Indians in the first edition of the tournament, where his team finished at the bottom where we all know sulking is inevitable.
