He is growing younger and younger. Saurav Ganguly has been outstanding with a superb fifty, stunned with some great fielding and led the team incredibly to gift the Eden Gardens yet another evening to remember.
McCullum was available, but Dada opened the innings along with the Caribbean power house and got the Knight Riders to a good start.
Ganguly was looking in great touch with the willow as he smacked Vettori for three boundaries and from then Gayle took the turn around.
Gayle walloped Mishra for a huge six and then whacked him for two back to back boundaries, before finally falling to Bhatia. The momentum was on and Ganguly carried to notch yet another fifty to place Kolkata on the driver’s seat. The Daredevils had to get Dada and Vettori with his mastery got Ganguly.
McCullum was expected to stand and deliver, but fell short of crease and the Daredevils were right back in the game. It was Mathews along with Tiwary who pedaled the Knight Ridders post a defendable total of 181 on board.
A total of 181 seemed achievable for a fire pack Delhi, but Dinda lit the fireworks as he clattered the stumps of Warner. The Eden Gardens exploded in joy, but the Knight Riders were pulled back as Gambhir and Sehwag batted beautifully.
The Delhi duo with some sagacious batting went to almost steal the match, but Ganguly with a direct throw ended the partnership as Gambhir fell short of crease. Dada hit the stumps and pumped his fist in the air and the whole of Eden Gardens went crazy.
Mendis spew out his magic as Collingwood holed it straight to Mathews, but with Sehwag on a song the game was much there with Delhi.
Agarkar was brought back in the attack and was taken for the leather by Sehwag, but then Sehwag dragged on the stumps. With Sehwag back in the dug out, Ganguly and his men pulled up their socks and with some superb fielding applied brakes on Delhi.
Maharoof was looking dangerous, but then Iqbal with a beautiful arm ball deceived Maharoof to let the ball hit the timber. He then went to dismiss Bhatia by charging out, picked the ball and hit straight at the non strikers end.
Dinda again produced a magical wicket of Karthik, there by making sure the Knight Riders don’t disappoint their fans.
The Knight Riders couldn’t defend 200 in their last game, but in this one they defended the Daredevils by 14 runs. With this win of the Knight Riders the doors of the tournament are yet again open.
Now every team will fight from the bottom of their hearts and the coming fifth week will be interesting one as it will be completely knock out.
Credit goes to the Knight Riders for putting an all round effort, but one man deserves all the honors- Saurav Ganguly.
He is now the 4th highest run getter in the IPL and he is back with a bang.
He has lead the team marvelously, and it will be a treat to the Knight Rider fans if their team reaches the semis. There are still some concerns with the team, but for the moment Dada and his men are enjoying a cup full of “Misthi Dohi.”
gangually is best
