Party and travel can be accounted for India’s exit from T20, not the Indian Premier League or too much cricket, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said.

But in the collective soul searching that India must do after the humiliating exit in West Indies, the Captain did say, “Players need to be smart because the IPL is not just about cricket, there are other things going around, you have to travel a lot…so you have to respect your body and at the same time take care of your body, which is important…if you don’t do that then IPL is quite draining…if you are playing late night games, if you go the parties and come back late and travel the next day it takes a toll on your body…”

Therefore the 45 days IPL can’t be held responsible for what led to the debacle in the World T20. If players would have given respect to their bodies then the IPL would not have drained them. As far as the player fitness and freshness is concerned, most players were fit and fresh.

T20 World Cup and IPL should be treated as poles apart. Last time also there was this same question, that has one tournament over affected the other? And without a second thought the answer was yes (though was not true). Next time there is the 2011 World Cup first and then the IPL and there is no T20 World Cup after that so at least next year there won’t be any such question.

In the match against Sri Lanka India scored well at the initial stage but lost the match finally. “I think execution of plans from their bowlers was very good, even with set batsmen we couldn’t score freely. Overall, batting is our strength and we should have done better. We didn’t perform to our potential. The last 4-5 overs that they bowled really restricted us. We need to improve in quite a few areas,” Dhoni said after the match.

Its Mumbai vs Bangalore & Deccan vs Chennai

Finally, the air is cleared. Teams entering the semi final spot have been baffling but super Sunday set the points table and the all the teams qualifying the table deserve to be there.

Chennai taking on Punjab couldn’t restrict Punjab to a low total as Marsh blazed away Punjab to 192. They needed Hayden to fire, but the mongoose has still not eaten the snakes. Raina got to a good start but fell along with Vijay. Badrinath came with a fighting cameo, but it was captain courageous who went to win the match.

It was good to see Dhoni firing and soaking the pressure but on the other hand Hayden’s failure has been disappointing. Most importantly Chennai’s bowling has to strengthen.

They have got quality bowlers, but unfortunately almost all the bowlers are running out of form. They are been costly at the death overs, but Ashwin and Raina are able to roll their arms to stop the run flow.

Yesterday’s match has really set the tone for the upcoming clashes. Chennai’s win has got Dhoni;’s form back and it was important for him to be back with runs.

The Sambar Tigers Are Making Dosas Of Other Teams!

Now Chennai winning the match, the match between Delhi and Deccan came crucial as any team that would win the game would fly into the semis.

Your browser may not support display of this image. The Deccan Chargers didn’t start well as except for Symonds none came with runs. They some how managed to paddle the score till 145 and the way Sehwag was batting the target seemed too easy.

But Rohit Sharma with some brilliant catches set the tone and the bowlers bowled beautifully to push out Delhi out of the competition. The Hyderabadi’s truly deserve all the credit to be in Mumbai to play the semis.

They didn’t have a home ground but accustomed every ground to outplay the opposition. But they still have some concerns. Gilly is not in good touch, Gibbs inclusion in the crucial match will still be under doubt but Symonds is in good knick.

Their bowlers have done the duty and consistent performance will make sure the Defending Champions defend their titles.

Mumbai Indians have started their campaign fabulously and have made their announcement in the middle itself. The little master leading from the front, has been successful in leading the team to the semis.

Sachin Tendulkar who is now the leading run getter in this IPL will face a resurgent Bangalore.

Mumbai depended on Sachin a lot more, but in the last few games their batsmen are putting runs on board. Pollard is hitting the ball cleanly and with Rayudu and Sathish getting into act, they are a balanced side.

Mallinga along with Zaheer are bowling beautifully and most importantly Mumbai has been able to restrict teams chasing totals. Harbhajan too is in sublime touch and who knows another cameo from his bat can really make the difference.

Bangalore lost to Mumbai in the last game, but they are a dangerous team. They have got the fire pack and Uthappa along with Kohli are in great touch and Mumbai can’t afford to take them lightly.

Their bowlers are in terrific form and Kumble is getting his boys ready. So the Mumbai Indians will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the D.Y.Patil and it will be tough on the part of Bangalore to play in front of a noisy Mumbai crowd.

But one can’t rule them out completely as on a given day any team can beat any team. One big performance the game is gone. One big over the game is gone and who knows probably a super over can decide things.

Its almost five weeks that the war is on and finally top teams have qualified for the semis amidst speculations and as we move on to the next segment of the game, the teams are roaring loud Mumbai here we come.

It’s all happening in the IPL. Morning in Bangalore a blast occurred just minutes before the game started and Mumbai blasted Bangalore even in the game.

With Bangalore loosing the match and Kolkata winning the match, the points table has got a slight change as Kolkata still has a chance to make to the semis.

Ganguly’s inspiration has once again proved worthy as the Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Royals convincingly by 8 wickets. Watson been promoted to open was useful as he whacked the bowlers and Shane Warne could had done this job earlier.

With Watson and Pathan falling, the Knight Riders tightened the screws and with some decent bowling restricted the Royals to 131. Jaidev Unadkat was the peak among the bowlers as he got the variation and with crucial wickets was able to do the damage.

The Knight Riders needed to get off to a blazing start, but with McCullum and Gyale falling cheaply, the Royals looked to finish their campaign in style. Warne got the ball turn and it was a treat to watch the legendary leg spinner bowling such beauties.

Ganguly was never in a mood and unruffled his olden days to make sure he doesn’t address the media in a sad note. The King of off side was cramped for room, but he played an upish cover drive to settle scores.

Pujara joined Dada in the centre and poured all his experience to make sure they don’t loose this golden opportunity. They had wasted some in the past, but not this time. Voges was taken into task as Pujara whacked him for a six and then Dada.

The Eden Gardens went jubilant when Dada raised his bat and that was Dada at his best. In his entire cricketing carrer he had come across the pressure situations and in similar conditions at the Gardens, he played like a champion the entire day.

He dispatched Fazal for a huge six and then for a boundary, there by left Pujara to score the winning runs.

It’s all over for Warne and co. They end their IPL3 season in a loss and Warne wouldn’t have certainly loved.

The Royals after loosing initially came back strongly, but that was just not enough. One can’t say they didn’t play good cricket, but it’s just that their opponents played better.

One a given day any team can beat any and with Kolkata winning today the berths of semis except for Mumbai are still not reserved.

It’s a waiting list chart and the one who plays outstandingly along with good luck sneaks in to the semis.

But for the moment it’s time for some misthi dohi as its yet another Dada day.

These Boys Are Good Naughty Boys, Shashi And Modi Are Bad Naughty Boys. Shut Up!

Let us move forward by first adding false information.

Wonder how the ruckus between Modi & Tharoor got so glorified? Well when the initial blame game started there was not much to talk about them. Heck there was not even an issue between them still they were talking & the media was reporting that these two charismatic personalities are banging heads with each other. Now was the time to add some spice. So Tharoor used his influence & got the I-T sleuths to check on Modi. This harrowed Modi and threatened to show his hidden skeletons. Along with punching his reputation. It was an indirect move by a government official that too a minister. The I-T sleuths captured his HQ at BCCI building, his Worli office & even his hotel room. When some un-bribe-able governmental people knock on the bedroom it is a sign of ensuing insult. This is a heavy blow not withstanding of how clean a citizen is a visit from the I-T department never sounds good.

Not to be outdone Modi told his men in the parliament to throw a commotion in the parliament. There was a big pandemonium thrown by the illiterate class of politicians. Heavy language was lunged in vernacular by the cattle class. No work was done in the parliament due to the uprising caused by the internal affairs of a private consortium. The well of the house was thronged by the opposition. The speaker was not given a chance to speak in the humdrum. All that Modi had to do was fill the pocket of one leading opposition member. The rest followed like a house of cards caught in a gale. The attending members incessantly demanded Tharoor’s statement & resignation. When Mr. Tharoor came to the house to address the concerns even then they were least bothered to give an ear. Modi knows that Tharoor is answerable to his top brass. Even if there is no matter then at least the question of party image is brought up & it is there that Tharoor is caught dumfounded.

Behind That Door Is A Dirty Shashi And Naughty Modi, Mommies Keep Away!

Lip smacking moments come when both hit each other below the belt. That is the germ of sensationalism. All this just because of some unwarranted talk doing the rounds. It is like calling your Boss a Bastard. No matter the whole floor might be calling him a bastard but he shouldn’t hear it in first person. Because then will take it as a personal insult. This was exactly what was happening. One private entrepreneur & one minister were carrying on contradicting each other through phones, messages, tweets, media etc. It was elementary to raise it to the next level of a national scale. Only when there are enough eyeballs shall one throw the other into obscurity. Doing it behind closed doors robs it of its chaska. This on going saga is nothing new in the chart of controversy. It is the normal flow of things. Now since naxals are not gunning down our sitting ducks (CRPF) then there has to be some information that can be branded as Breaking News & sold. This is that. Since not every channel has the rights of IPL so the poorer news channels are playing the story of Modi vs Tharoor to gain some TRPs.

I feel ashamed to live in such a country where such practices are the norm.

Now, the problem here is that this isn’t necessarily all just fiction. There are truths in the lies that are now travelling at hyperdrive speeds between Lalit Modi and Shashi “Naughty Boy” Tharoor.

Read my lips “Lalit Modi cannot be removed from the position where he is”. Shashi Tharoor our minister of state for external affairs is a person as clean as his kurta.

Lalit Modi Dressed In His Dirty Linen

The more facets a diamond has the sparkles it makes.

A diamond is judged by the number of facets it has. The more the no. of facets the more appealing it gets. The no. of facets decide the no. of angles it can be viewed from. The golden figure for facets is 58. So ideally there are 58 facets from which light is refracted to give that beautiful look. There are diamonds that are more than 58 faceted diamonds but after a few looks they loose their attention. Let us draw a corroaly the more the facets of a controversy the more sensationalism it creates. The more variables involved in a story the more deep the discussion. The more angles of an account the murkier it gets. The ongoing controversy that embroils the ring master Mr. Lalit Modi is just hitting a no. of facets that is making the controversy jucier by the hour. Indeed our stupidly chosen dumb politicians halted the proceeding of the parliament today on an entirely legal matter. Continuing our IPL saga let us look at this story from its many facets with our protagonist Lalit Modi & antagonist Shashi Tharoor.

Shashi Tharoor our minister of state for external affairs is a person as clean as his kurta. I totally believe his version of the scandal concerning the Kochi consortium. From the beginning he has not said anything much save that Mr. Modi wanted to wrangle the deal out of Rendezvous Sports Group & Kochi in an unethical fashion. If you observe carefully you will see that the statement makes a point and yet it is vague. This shows his class politicianship. Mr. Tharoor has always maintained that his role in procuring the franchisee for RSG was purely of that of a mentor. So this means that he mobilised the bidding partners & worked efficiently to swing the deal in their favour. No doubt there, we had seen in the previous bidding that Dr. Vijay Mallya was not present at the auction and someone else on his behalf completed the deal. Tharoor has also not received a penny for his services (unless payment is deferred at a due date) which gives him a clean image. The only point where Tharoor engages Modi is when the latter wanted the Kochi franchisee to not go to the people it went to. Tharoor is keenly interested to bring cricket to Kerela a genuine good. It is another matter that the money will flow to some parties only that will help him in the run-up to the election. This aside the game of twenty 20 cricket shall benefit the state of Kerela immensely & at grassroot level.

The protagonist Lalit Modi has had to face a lot of heat, thanks to a twitter armed politician. Tharoor has never won a battle on twitter.com but it has definitely left a mark on the rival. The whole matter was going without much attention until Tharoor left a tweet and then the butter dropped on the hot pan. Then Modi re-tweet-ed. After that the drama entered your living room. Tharoor said some things, Modi said some other things and the media said yet other things. Actually by this time both were ‘clarifying’ as to what the other person was saying. Modi had to first dip head down (read in a black BMW 7 series) into his office because some I-T guys had shown up unannounced. They wanted to ‘probe’ ‘certain’ matters. So Modi got busy in his office doing clerical work for the I-T guys, helping them get their hands on some files and more over planning his move when he exited the office.

When he did come out of the IPL headquarters his language said that “everything is under control and now you see how I shall thwart you on your playing field.” I have said before that always trust a Gujju in business. Modi had the plan in place before he got into the BCCI building. This I-T thing was merely an eyewash & a distraction.

There were his accusers who wanted to nail him for his business interests in certain franchisees. Modi showed them that there was nothing to indict him & went forward by showing the details of the recordings. No where is it mentioned that Lalit Modi is a beneficiary of any of the deals only his family members and even they are not his immediate family.

While Modi was in the IPL HQ with the I-T sleuths some passive monkeys raised a question that at some point either before the end of season or post it Mr. Lalit Modi shall be ousted from the post of Commissioner & Chairman of IPL. I almost died laughing at the foolishness of the question. Read my lips “Lalit Modi cannot be removed from the position where he is”. I have said before & I maintain, no matter how much it is to your dislike, Lalit Modi is not a pawn in this game he is a one man show & he will not be defeated at IPL. I have also said that he has engineered the whole business model that is better known as IPL. And he has contrived it keeping himself in mind. That is why he has two designations Commissioner & Chairman. He even said it that there is no provision in the constitution (of IPL) for a co-chairman or the impeachment of the Chairman. This is how detailed his model is. Lalit Modi wields immense power. Those who tell themselves that they have a chance of removing Modi in any way possible are building castles in the clouds. Besides he is the protagonist.

Modi, Modi, Modi. I absolutely love this guy for getting into the controversy he has gotten into. If Sachin is the god of cricket then surely Modi is the God of IPL. God is omnipresent & so is Modi in IPL. With a click of his fingers he overshadowed the combined might of all the sport stars including Sania- Shoaib. Not only that, mark my words he shall get out of it with only a few bruises and a strong message to his rivals saying “you don’t mess with the Modi”. I have no doubt that Lalit Modi will not have any long term negative repercussions by the on going hullabaloo. Still I maintain that his intentions are not entirely holy.

It is a mark of a developed man who can stand in the murky waters of allegations for the stuff he has himself engineered. I am racially biased towards Modi, is he not a Gujju. One can always trust a Gujju to understand the mechanics & functionality of business. He is the one who created IPL from its concept to the rules of the game & participating entities. It was he who contrived the role of each person, it was he who formulated plans for investments & awakened the might of consumerism to benefit his clan in the while generating a humongous business plan for all of India. Such plans are not made overnight in a hotel room rather it takes a skewed mind to germinate the idea over a period of time while capping all loop holes in the way. Lalit Modi has nothing to hide for he has all the paper work in place. This simple step saves 90% of the trouble. The rest of his plan is executed under the legal framework (of some country if not India). If you have a revenue model that generates tons of money then you do not need any underhand dealings. That is the trick my boy.

Do you doubt that this small affair with the I-T dept (or anyone else) can hamper his motives? If a person (Gujju) can erect a Rs.15,000 crore commercial empire overnight then he can also look through the winds that intend to change his course. Everything will boil down investigations of some formal paper work that Modi shall prove to be correct and then he shall go home unscathed while others shall leave red faced. As it is the income tax dept. got hold of the relevant papers still could not do anything to indict him. The I-T officials came in claiming to survey the documents related to the Kochi consortium but also took away the files of other franchisees & associated business partners. The same was remarked as an inquiry by Modi while the media screamed it to be a raid. No cash or cocaine was found.

Band Jiske Nahi Baj Sakta, Woh Hai Don Aur Modi - Lalit Modi

The drama was awesome to watch on the telly. IPL headquarters which is in the BCCI building was raided by a four member I-T team. BCCI officials started coming in apparently to gauge the damage & initiate damage control. I must tell you that the BCCI also houses some of the most corrupt people in country. Then Modi pulled in, in his black BMW 7-series (I say if you are corrupt then be corrupt in a BMW) and walked in without the slightest hint of worry but a grin on his face. Slowly the I-T officials took control of his office at Worli & then his hotel room. Please notice how long it took the I-T dept to raid all his places at once. This shows their callousness. God knows what was Modi made to do behind those sealed doors but when he came out he was not psyched out but answered the queries of the TV camera crew politely & unhurriedly. His presentation of himself after the episode was even better than his awful IPL 3 opening speech.

All this ruckus with no result is only providing the media men with some tit bits of sensational news. I am waiting for when all this shall get over & the world will see how innocent & untainted is Mr. Modi. I shall go forward to say that nobody will come to the rescue of Modi rather he will prove himself to be clean. Go on Modi! I know the results if your affairs but entertain me until then.

Love, Paris

The Super Kings captain seemed slightly overconfident of winning the match, but with him replacing Raina at first down, it was an entire mess.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Super Kings didn’t go to a flyer. Hayden has not been in good touch and departed early, but with Suresh Raina getting runs, one couldn’t understand Dhoni stepping up.

Dhoni went for a duck and then the Daredevils with some good bowling performance chocked the Super Kings. It was their part time spinners that did the job as Sehwag and Dilshan picked the crucial wickets and Badrinath could only paddle Chennai for just 113.

113 on board and with fire packs in the dug out, Delhi was expected to win the match convincingly, but Gambhir had to sweat out and fight till the end to make sure Delhi doesn’t loose the match.

Ashwin with his magic arm produced the wicket of Warner and then Bollinger plunged in with two big wickets. Sehwag chased a wide delivery and Hayden held a superb catch to dismiss him.

Dilshan struggled to find room and dragged on to the stumps, to leave the Cheapuk emerge in joy. Dhoni was certainly not in a mood to throw away the match and keeping the net run rate in mind, he tweaked his bowlers.

Spin coming into action and the pitch supporting it Chennai was on a roll. Though the score was not huge, but with the top order collapse a close match was expected.

Karthik worked away with singles and so as Gambhir as boundaries got dried up and both the dug outs were just anxious. Karthik trying to pull the ball couldn’t connect well and Badrinath took a well judged catch to slice another feather of Delhi.

Mithun Manhas had to play the sheet anchor role and support Gambhir who played a captain’s knock to keep Delhi alive. Without taking much risks and rotating the strikes rightly the Delhi duo played to their credit to take Delhi safely home.

Gambhir came out with yet another fighting fifty and most importantly a much needed one. Had Delhi lost him, Dhoni and his men could have gambled the game in their favor.

Well Chennai has lost the match, but certainly is not out of the tournament. They have a healthy run rate and a win in the next will tighten their place.

Dhoni said Deccan has to loose, but Gilly and his men are doing no nepotism. Well so much is going on on the pitch and off the pitch.

IPL has certainly been an entertainer, but Modi doesn’t seem to be enjoying nowadays.

Eyeballs have moved to news channels away from Max, but the cricket lovers won’t mind as long as the coin goes up.

Continuing our feature about the recent IPL Lalit Modi-Shashi Tharoor IPL scandal, we list the major players who are trying to mess with your favorite sport and every one of you on a personal level. Blasphemy!

The Antagonist Shashi Tharoor

I have always sided with the former UN Diplomat, there has to be some credibility to the character of a person who can run for the post of UN Secretary General. Shashi Tharoor is active in cricket organising & took the initiative to bring cricket to Kerela. Shahi Tharoor first came into the picture when he mentored the buying of the Kochi franchisee. That part was good of him but then he tried to pull an a la modi. He did not want to disclose the names of some of the owners & Modi did not let this happen. Hence, the Franchisee was harassed with a lot of answering to do. Plus his tweet was also got him sinking in the marsh. He allegedly received a SMS from the underworld threatening his life over the deal (this may well be a hoax, don’t you think it is way over the top). Moreover his relationship with Sunanda Puskar has compounded matters. They may at most be friends with her but mud slingers do not need a reason. It should be noted that Shashi Tharoor has not invested a single penny in the consortium or demanded & fees yet he is being attacked. May be he is guilty of hurting Modi’s ego.

The Vamp Sunanda Puskar

I doubt the lady as she is quite rich being an army officer’s daughter. She gets the role of vamp as she is divorced & widowed (that is how she got her riches) & sometimes lives with Tharoor at his official residence. Earlier it was disclosed that she held 19% of the 1000 shares of the Kochi franchisee. When matters of her affair with Tharoor came up she fled the country & maintained a symbolic silence. But vamps are real bad at keeping their mouth shut an came up with a standard line talking about her career & womanhood & friendship with Tharoor. However, I absolutely loved watching her father being harassed by a TV news channel. Whether she is a proxy of Tharoor is yet to be validated. Until then if Pushkar & Tharoor put up a strong camp against Modi then we shall see some more skeletons fall from the cupboard.

The Babe Gabriella Demetriades

She has nothing to do with the Kochi consortium scandal. Her name features in it because she was the subject of Modi’s e-mail to Tharoor and she is hot. Gabriella is the title holder of IPL 2 Miss Bollywood South Africa. Modi had asked Tharoor to ensure that her visa is not extended. See this barney of Modi is purely personal. Miss Gabriella has suffered a hit to her image as Modi got Tharoor’s office to commit corrupt actions.

"Unse Poocho! Main Kya Karu"

The Sarkar

The tiff of Modi & Tharoor landed Tharoor in the cabin of Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Parnab Mukherjee & A. K. Antony. Tharoor has been harping that he has nothing to declare & is least interested in the financial benefits of the Kochi deals but our octogenarian babus hardly knowing the truth are worried over his tweets. Suddenly Manmohan Singh has to shift his focus from Nuclear deal to Kochi deal. Again I must say that Manmohan Singh is after all an incapable & incapacitated man. On top of it we have Union Minister Sharad Pawar & Civil Aviation minister Praful Patel influencing everyone from Kochi to New Delhi. I know first hand that Sharad Pawar is corrupt (& ugly) & can do no good to cricket. Probably the only one correct in this debate is the BJP which has asked the resignation of Tharoor on the grounds that a serving minister has used his position to influence the deals.

I have been showing you glimpses of corruption in the IPL for a while now. This uproar has only validated my observations.

Love, Paris

I love IPL, I Love IPL not. I love IPL, I Love IPL not. I love IPL, I Love IPL not. I love IPL, I Love IPL not. I love IPL, I Love IPL not. I love IPL, I Love IPL not. Such is the enigma of IPL that it keeps me to think about it everyday. When IPL came it came on the front page then it moved to its rightful sports page & now again it is moving to the gossip columns. One is hooked onto the IPL series even if it does not play cricket. The mud slinging from all the camps (yes there are more than one) has involved every creamy society worth having a finger in pie. We would all like to know how the cookie crumbled. All was hail & hearty in luxury ville until some now bedfellows arrived. The participants of this of this show now come from upper crust of our community. Let us take a look at the cast IPL organisation structure, minister of state, IPL chief & his family, the vamp, the babe, the Don, non existing bidders, the government & opposition, the Prime Minister, bollywood, industrialist…. Is anyone worth mentioning left out? Madhur Bhandarkar’s muse.

This feature will take stock of the situation player by player, and will probably be a psychedelic trip down at least 2 of the seven sins:

The Protagonist – Lalit Modi

The commissioner of IPL. The whole game of structuring the IPL its league, franchisee formula, player bidding & all the nitty gritties associated with it was formulated by him. He might say that it took 15 years for the IPL to form but with the speed at which he gets things done will put Flash to shame. By now you must be convinced that IPL was formed overnight from the decimation of ICL. He concept was in place & with the blessings of BCCI he contacted interested parties to come & bid for the franchisee & players. The seed of his undercover methods lay when he first contacted the bidders covertly. Only a few parties were invited & the bid was engineered (behind closed dors) such that vested interest got full benefits.

No One Steals Our Cocaine! Not Even Lalit Modi.

Act II- he wanted to add a couple of franchisees to increase the popularity & valuation of the League. No wonder Kochi & Pune got sold for record sums. IPL continues to fill its coffers. But he is caught with his hand in the jar when allegations of him surface for step-motherly treatment of Kochi. This is only the tip of the iceberg.Gradually, Modi’s familial connection to a franchisee & IPL commercial rights will be traced. It seems that Modi has somehow some influence over all active segments of IPL. Everything from governing to commercial to participant’s choice. He is the omnipresent “silent” member of IPL. It is upto you to figure out how did the Royals win the season 1 & how he gets money from www.iplt20.com (even I had approached the IPL for handling their website but was refused). These details were available on www.ipltracker.com before the recent spat.
